How does a pawn loan work?

A pawn is a collateral loan. We lend money against the value of your item — gold, diamonds, watches or jewelry. Repay the loan and your item comes back to you. Choose not to repay, and you simply surrender the item as payment in full. That's it — no collections, no court, no credit damage.

Do pawn loans affect my credit?

No. There's no credit check to get the loan and nothing is ever reported to credit bureaus. The item is the entire security — pawn loans are non-recourse, meaning we look only to the collateral if the loan isn't repaid.

How much can I borrow on my item?

It depends on appraised value, condition, and how sellable the item is. There's no minimum, and maximums are set by New York pawn law. Bring the item in for a free appraisal, or call with a description for a ballpark number — final offers are always made in person.

How do you determine my item's value?

Current market value, condition, and demand. Jewelry is graded by our certified gemologists; watches are evaluated by reference and completeness against the live secondary market; gold is weighed and tested. Everything happens in front of you.

What are your interest rates?

Among the lowest in NYC — Max APR 24%, with flexible repayment terms and extensions where New York law permits. No hidden charges: pawn loans are small, short-term, and transparent by design.

Do most people get their items back?

Yes. Industry-wide, about 80% of pawn loans are repaid and the collateral returned. Most of our business is repeat customers who borrow against the same pieces whenever they need short-term cash.

Are pawn shops regulated?

Heavily. Pawnbrokers are governed by federal financial-institution laws — the Patriot Act, Truth in Lending Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, and FTC data-privacy rules — plus New York State and NYC licensing. Every transaction requires government-issued photo ID.

How do I know purchased merchandise isn't stolen?

Every customer provides positive ID and a full item description, which is reported to law enforcement. Industry data shows less than one-tenth of one percent of pawned merchandise is ever identified as stolen — thieves avoid pawn shops precisely because of the paper trail.

Is my item safe while pawned?

Your collateral is stored securely and insured in our private 8th-floor Diamond District office until you redeem it. Discretion is the business — your transaction stays between us.
